I feel like Paris gets a bad reputation for rude locals, scammers everywhere, and filthy streets …. and I’m not going to lie to you – some of that is kind of true! BUT. Who cares? Keep your stuff safe and close by, be polite, and you’ll be fine. Plus, MOST big cities are dirty! Regardless of all that, I love Paris. I love smelling cheese everywhere. I love the stunning buildings and bridges. I love strolling the streets aimlessly, without a destination, just to see the city. I love listening to the sounds of street buskers playing La Vie En Rose. I love sitting at the cafes, watching people pass by.
More than anything, though, I LOVE eating in Paris! The cheese! The wine! The CROISSANTS! The very best thing in the world, to me, is a stinky, soft-ripened, washed-rind French cheese, with a warm Parisian croissant, and champagne.
Paris is an energy all of its own, full of romance and beauty; but it’s also full of the most incredible baked goods and cheeses this planet has to offer. I could literally do nothing else, but eat pastries and cheeses, while sipping wine, and gaze at the beautiful buildings, and be perfectly content for the rest of my days.
Croissants, soft-ripened raw goat’s milk cheese, coffee, wine and a tarte au Citron on the banks of the Seine. This was our breakfast three mornings in a row during our last visit (with rotating cheeses, tarts and wines!). Absolute perfection. The most incredible croissant in the world. This actually may be the very best thing I’ve ever eaten. Truly! They were EVERYTHING you want in a croissant. The smell from this place alone is intoxicating! The bakery is called La Maison d’Isabelle; located in the Latin Quarter, it is just a quick walk from Notre-Dame. There’s a Fromagerie AND a wine store next door to the bakery! The best ice cream in Paris! Une Glace à Paris. I had their goat cheese ice cream. I swear, it’s incredible. A little savoury, a little sweet, and suuuper creamy. It’s phenomenal, I promise! They also have more “normal” flavours, if goat ice cream just doesn’t do it for you. There is nowhere more beautiful or more peaceful, to me, than the very, very top of Notre-Dame de Paris at sunset. You also cannot visit Paris without enjoying the beauty of the icon of the city: the Eiffel Tower. Its internal structure alone is incredible, from an architectural standpoint, but it’s also so much fun when nightfall hits and this beautiful structure lights up the night sky, its lights shimmering away at the top of every hour. Phenomenal eclairs in a bakery near Notre-Dame. Obligatory Moulin Rouge walk-by.It doesn’t look like much, but this Croque Monsieur is one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever eaten!
I’ll leave you with this beautiful glimmering show!
